CUTANEOUS LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS

  • Monitoring and trying to predict the progression of isolated cutaneous lupus to systemic lupus is a key aspect of managing CLE.  Laboratory SLE, systemic lupus where the sole clinical feature is cutaneous lupus and the systemic diagnosis, is based on ACR/EULAR laboratory criteria.  ​One study showed that patients with laboratory SLE are 5x more likely to progress to severe SLE than patients with isolated CLE (25% vs 4%). 38301924
